Deptford Creek

£20.00 - £80.00

...on an early morning walk to Greenwich. Once the Creek was full of shipyards and engineering works. Now the Creek's just a quiet backwater, surrounded by encroaching speculative flats and a dance centre with (invisible from here) nice landscaping. This is the view from the Ha’penny Hatch, a footbridge that opens up in the middle to let boats through. Above is the railway bridge to Greenwich, the first passenger line in the world. The Ha’penny Hatch used to be a toll bridge, costing, obviously, a ha’penny.
