I've been trying to work out a way of drawing what I feel about the Brexit referendum.
I was provoked to create these particular images by the way those who voted to leave the EU were widely castigated as racist, misinformed and parochial after the result. It made me realise that we need some new form of allegory for the 21st century, a way of illustrating values and ideas that can inspire us to change the world.
I drew this picture in a hurry (hence silhouettes), provoked generally by the doom-mongering by British media and public figures about the UK’s prospects post-EU, and specifically by the grief of wealthy businesswoman Gina Davis. Inspired by Jane Eyre, and by Mr Thomas Gradgrind, who knew the price of everything and the value of nothing.
